RENAULT-FLINS; VICTORIOUS RESUMPTION OF THE STRIKE

– Capital believed it was attacking the weak link of the metal-working industry (an isolated factory, no union tradition, a number of immigrant workers, a fascist organisation in the factories).

– It sent 5,000 CRS, mobile guards, a half-track, etc…, to protect the scabs’ “freedom to work.”

– But the workers of Flins continue the combat. Friday, at 5:00am, they amassed with a number of students in front of the thousands of cops protecting the factory.

Workers and students overtake the CRS along the route where the cars arrive, carrying the workers who were tricked into thinking they were resuming work. They get into each car to explain the situation, and quickly all of the cars are empty and the 9,000 workers are united in a meeting to continue the strike.

– It is then (10 in the morning) that the mobile guards attack the gatherings of workers in Elizabethville. Not only do the workers have no access to their factory, but the neighboring villages are also prohibited.

– All day the workers, at first surprised and unarmed, respond and hold on before the mobile guards.

Power is forced to add 50 cars of CRS during Friday night.

This morning L’Humanité says it is the student provocateurs that are at the origin of the violence. This is a lie. It was the workers of Flins (there were 8,000 of them) who sent for the students. It was the CRS, by their scandalous presence in the factory and the surrounding area, who provoked the workers of Flins. The students who wish to retake the Sorbonne understand the workers of Flins who wish to retake their factory: that’s why they were yesterday and are still at the side of the workers in the face of the repression of the bosses and the police.

The reality: is the anger of the workers.

The reality: is the fraternization of the workers and the students.

Today the strike movement turns its eyes to RENAULT-FLlNS. Entire sectors take up the struggle again; the postal sorting offices, Berliet, etc… go back on strike, seeing in the fighting spirit of the workers of Flins the sign of an ongoing struggle for the abolition of the bosses.

The workers of Flins have opened a new stage of the struggle.

LET’S MOBILIZE; all of the businesses, all of the workers, all of the students.

LET’S REINFORCE THE STRIKE MOVEMENT.

SUNDAY AND MONDAY will be two decisive days for the workers’ struggle.

PROGRESSIVE STUDENTS PLAN
FOR A UNIVERSITY TO SERVE THE PEOPLE

The progressive students submit to the working-class masses a programme for the radical transformation of the university, with the aim of placing it under the control and at the service of the people:

    1. Education should combine intellectual and productive labour. For a few months of the year, students will work on factory production lines, on the streets and in the countryside, in order to transform and to learn from their life with workers and peasants.

    2. Universities will be completely open to workers who wish to attend courses there. All university facilities will be available to the people.

    3. Higher education will reserve more than 50% of its places to working-class and peasant children.

    4. All lecturers and assistants of higher education will devote a certain amount of their time to helping workers study, and especially to improving the literacy of immigrant workers.

    5. Education will be reshaped, and useless subjects will be scrapped. Exams will no longer be suddenly sprung on students, who will be allowed to collaborate freely amongst themselves and with their lecturers.

To achieve this plan, the masses must unite, overthrowing Gaullist, conquering and radically transforming society.

This will only be possible if the large mass of progressive students unites closely with the mass of workers and poor peasants. Students must move resolutely towards the people, in order to support their heroic struggle against unemployment and starvation wages, against the monopolising of land and against fascism and repression in the factories.

For a people’s university in a free peoples regime.

LONG LIVE THE UNITY OF WORKERS, OF POUR PEASANTS AND OF STUDENTS.

DOWN WITH GAULLISM, THIS ANTI-POPULAR REGIME OF UNEMPLOYMENT AND POVERTY.

DOWN WITH THE ANTI-POPULAR
GAULLIST REGIME
OF UNEMPLOYMENT AND POVERTY

On Monday 13 May workers and students, en masse, gave proof of their immense strength. 13th May was an great day of struggle against Gaullism. Workers and progressive students DEMONSTRATED AGAINST GAULLISM. It is no longer a question of fighting for small demands – bourgeois irrelevancies. The Gaullist state currently wants TO BREAK THE TIDAL WAVE raised against it and all reactionary forces. The Sorbonne? It is open again. The freedom of our comrades? Workers and students have demanded it.

SO, WHAT NOW? The mass movement against Gaullism, against the regime of unemployment and poverty must intensify.

THE WORKING CLASS DEMAND THAT THE SACRIFICES THEY HAVE AGREED TO, THE GREAT STRIKE THEY HAVE EMBARKED ON, MUST LEAD TO POSITIVE RESULTS. THE WORKERS WON’T FIGHT FOR NOTHING.

Those who protest, those who strike, like those who haven’t yet gone on strike because they’ve been preparing a massive struggle in the factories against the onslaught of big capital – the great mass of workers aspire to continue the popular battle against big capital and its Gaullist state.

The UNEF, the management of the CFT and of the PCF, GIVE NO CONCRETE POSSIBILITY to strengthen the unity of the people in the struggle against Gaullism.

The workers and progressive students ARE WAITING.

Do they want a parliamentary debate? No.
An adjustment of the bourgeois University? No.
Do they want the rotten politicians of the “left”, the assassins of workers, the J. Moches and the Mollets to profit from the situation and sneak into power? No.

POPULAR GOVERNMENT? YES. MITTERAND? NO!

They want a popular government that gives work to everyone, a university at the service of the people, freedom for the people. They want a regime where workers, farmers, all the people are the masters of the country.

They want to develop the popular movement together.

The workers and the progressive students want to support the development of the strike movement, working towards the common association of active workers and the unemployed, working towards the common association of French and immigrant workers, brothers in the struggle against capitalist poverty.

They want the struggle, under the guidance of the working class, to continue.

EVERYONE TO THE RALLY
TO CONTINUE AND DEVELOP THE POPULAR STRUGGLE AGAINST GAULLISM
The workers are in the front line against Gaullism,
LONG LIVE THE UNION OF WORKERS AND PROGRESSIVE STUDENTS.

AT THE APPEAL OF THE COMMUNIST WORK GROUPS, OF THE UNION OF YOUNG COMMUNISTS (Marxist-Leninist), OF THE “TO SERVE THE PEOPLE” GROUP, OF THE SUPPORT MOVEMENT OF THE PEOPLE’S STRUGGLE, and OF THE DEFENCE COMMITTEES AGAINST REPRESSION.

SUNDAY 19 MAY
RALLY at 3:30pm at the MULTUALITE

A comrade is dead. A young high-school student: Gilles Tautin, who was at the Lycée Mallarmé. A member of the Movement for the Support of the People’s Struggle. A member of the Union of Young Communists (marxist-leninist). He died at FLINS.

He drowned, having been beaten by the police. Other comrades have still not returned. All day hundreds of young people were chased, hunted down and arrested. And was proletarian FLINS killed, or not? We will find out. Hundreds of proletarians injured. Gilles is our witness.

* Who killed our comrade? : The cops, the Gaullist dictatorship. This government of assassins loathes the People. Built on the power of exploiters, this government is despised by workers, farmers, intellectuals and the whole working population. Our People have risen up against this government. The strength of the millions of proletarians making themselves masters of the factories has rattled the exploiters: the capitalists are trembling. Today their government wants to make the People pay, make them forget that they are an invincible force. It wants to divide them, to repress them. It will not able to.

The Gaullist government hoped that everyone would return to “order”. Didn’t it promise legislative elections? Yes, elections in order that work resumes. So that work resumes before THE SATISFACTION OF THE WORKERS’ DEMANDS. Elections so that workers return to their factories under pressure from the scabs, the cops, and the CDR. Elections in order to defeat the People. And when workers resist as at CITROEN and RENAULT, the government of assassins sends in its CRS.

But like all reactionaries, the Gaullist government underestimates the strength of the People: the working class resists, the youth and the population maintain the bastions of proletarian resistance. At FLINS workers, students, and the whole population are united, united in the success of the same cause: the cause of the People.

* Who has assisted the government in the task of division and repression? : Anti-worker and anti-popular politicians. The vast mass of the country has seen them at work. The leaders of FO, kissing the arses of ministers. The leaders of the CFDT, who signed all the capitulating agreements and who, while the working class was fighting for satisfaction of all of its demands and for a popular government, found a way to introduce THEIR candidate, the retired anticommunist politician MENDES-FRANCE. Finally the NATIONAL BUREAU of the CGT, and the political gang of the PCF.

The stance of the confederated leadership of the CGT was DISGUSTING. It called for the return to work through sham secret ballots. It sabotaged the self-defence of the factories. It opened the gates of FLINS to the CRS. IT HAS DISARMED THE WORKING CLASS SO THAT THE ELECTIONS CAN TAKE PLACE. AND IT HAS ARMED THE ASSASSINS: at FLINS.

What did the Confederal Bureau of the CGT AND HUMANITE say on June 7 1968?:

  • “The government has omitted to name the real troublemakers and provocateurs whose machinations, including those against the return to work, are covered by a singular deference by the State”.
  • The government has responded to this call: it killed our comrade.

Our comrade is dead. It is the Gaullist government and ITS ACCOMPLICES IN THE NATIONAL BUREAU of the CGT and in the LEADERSHIP of the PCF who are responsible for his murder. Our comrade died for the SERVICE OF THE PEOPLE. For the Unity of the Youth Movement and the Workers’ Movement. He went to FLINS to put himself under the authority of the workers and proletarian unionists of the CGT. Because he belonged to a political organisation that springs from the working masses. An organisation which is proud to count defenders of the proletarian CGT among its members. He was a young militant who defended the cause of the workers and of the great CGT, permanently linked: the class struggle. He did not confuse the traitors of the national leadership with the hundreds of thousands of CGT militants who are ardent defenders of the workers’ cause. It must be made known FOR WHAT and FOR WHO he died: FOR THE WORKING CLASS, FOR THE CGT of CLASS STRUGGLE, FOR THE PARTY of REVOLUTIONARY PROLETARIANS, which he helped to build, FOR THE PEOPLE. He had etched in his mind the direction of the great guide of world Revolution, comrade Mao Tse-tung: SERVE THE PEOPLE.

COMRADE, from now on your name is inseparable from the peoples revolution, from the springtime of our people!

We pledge to follow the path that you have marked out with your blood. The blood of proletarians, the blood of our high-school comrade and of those who have died WITHOUT THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE PEOPLE, is THE BLOOD of MARTYRS for us all. Martyrs of the PEOPLE’S REVOLUTION. It arouses our hatred, which is immense, to meet the amount of suffering inflicted on the People by its exploiters.

Comrades, around the red flag of proletarian resistance, of the
People’s Revolution, of communism: UNITED UNTIL VICTORY!

RENAULT-FLINS : IT CONTINUES

ON THURSDAY 5000 CRS IN HALF-TRACKS OCCUPIED THE FLINS FACTORY, BY SATURDAY THERE WERE 10,000!…
DE GAULLE ADMITS:
– the employers have the means to quickly recover the increase in salaries
– the bourgeoisie know that any continuation of the struggle poses the issue of workers’ power.

So those in power profit from the dividing the struggles in order to attempt to crush the whole working class: FLINS was attacked first because it was a isolated factory.

However the workers fought, still fight and have defeated the manoeuvre of the bourgeoisie.

For 15 days the struggle proved that unity is our real strength in the abolition of the ruling class.

THE ISOLATION OF FLINS IS BROKEN
THE STRIKE IS REINFORCED!

To help your comrades to liberate their factory:

LET’S SET UP NEW FRONTS IN THE STRUGGLE WHEREVER WE ARE, IN THE COMPANIES, IN THE DISTRICTS, IN ORDER TO BREAK UP THE STATE,S FORCES: THE CRS CAN’T BE EVERYWHERE!
