THE POLICE CLEAR OUT THE PARIS FACULTY OF MEDICINE

Early this morning, and without any incident, the police cleared the building of the Paris New Faculty of Medicine in Rue des Saints Peres. Many students have been detained for identity checks. A significant number of police remain in the surrounding streets.

SUPPORT OUR ACTION

WE WANT REFORMS
– A democratic university open to all (3% of workers)
– Real, practical hospital training

Nurse work placements in the first rotation
    A Foundation programme for everyone

– Medicine of quality and equality

    More doctor-student contact
Tests of the knowledge and skills of future doctors
    No checklists for exams

AS:

– until now training hasn’t been appropriate to today’s circumstances
– selection wasn’t made on the basis of skills but on the number of places available in the Faculty

BECAUSE:
– our country is medically underdeveloped
– there are 8000 enrolments in C.P.E.M. and 2500 places available in the first year

  OUR TALKS ARE POSITIVE

But we need:

– office supplies
– paper for the Faculty newsletters
– funding

for the creche for students’ children
    for the injured students
    for supplies
    for ambulances
    for the infirmary

HELP OUR MOVEMENT MORALLY AND FINANCIALLY

 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

For close to a month, the French University has been reforming itself. Student action hasn’t always been very organised, but today, the Faculty of Medicine is able to inform you of the outline of it’s Reform.

With the goal of advising you of the new orientation of medical studies, a meeting has been organised at the new Faculty of Medicine, rue des Saints Pères.

We would be pleased if many of you would attend  this meeting to take part in our critique.

FACULTY OF MEDICINE

Medical students no longer want a news service controlled by the Police.

This Friday, throughout France, the Action Committees are organising rallies to support the 13,000 Workers of the ORTF that the Government would like to keep quiet; as well as to explain the political dimension of their struggle.

A rally for the Faculty has been organised for 6pm in LECTURE ROOM BINET, followed by a discussion.

The fighting, which has gone on since May 3, has shown that it’s in the streets, in the lecture rooms, through the occupation of workplaces, that the State can be made to retreat.

Everywhere, the struggle can lead to a definitive Victory.

Let’s find new ways to cut down Gaullism and to prepare the Workers’ victory.

EVERYONE COME TO LECTURE ROOM BINET, FRIDAY 7TH AT 6PM.

Cross of Lorraine

(3 June 1968, Fac Medicine)

Black screen-print on newsprint

This poster was released just after de Gaulle had announced the election to be held at the end of June.

The Cross of Lorraine (Croix de Lorraine) was the symbol of Free France (the government-in-exile led by Charles de Gaulle) during World War 2, and was retained by de Gaulle after the war as the symbol of his political movement: Gaullism.

So here we have a depiction of the generic French voter with de Gaulle’s symbol screwed right into his brain.
